Presumably so long as they aren't children. :D

Personally, I think the US and Britain should not get involved in other peoples' internal affairs again - ever. The UK is still bogged down in Afghanistan and we're told it's for the benefit of our internal security. That's rubbish because the Fifth Column is already living here.

Readers under the age of fifty may need to Google for the meaning of Fifth Column

Sure, if you can find him. No one has seen him since 2006. At least not in Uganda.

He is probably retired and a US citizen now.

Probably runs an ice cream parlour.

There are cheaper and more effective alternatives to getting one man. Such a means would be better for the national interests of all concerned as well.

Alternatively the video has the purpose of getting US forces into Africa where currently the Chinese are expanding ...

China is in the business of doing business and pretty much ignoring the political issues in the areas of their concern. This tactic of buying access and resources is rapant throughout Africa and South America.

Their meddling is different than Western meddling in that China has far fewer "stings" attached (with the exception of the business deal itself).

The biggest internet scam of 2012, this Kony crap. How much money have people been milked of in the last week over this sham?

There may be some "scamming" going on (money raised gets cut into thirds, one for movie, one for advertising the cause, one for aid). That may have some truth to it (argualbly). But, does that mean that Kony is not a bad actor and should be dealt with?

No one else on the world stage had the 'nads to document the atrocities commited under Kony's name. How they (the movie's producers) go about getting the word out is certainly up for debate, but you have to applaud the effort to help others who have been largely ignored due to a lack of National Interest on a global scale.

Therein lies the problem. Are we a global force united, or a world of nations? I would say the latter, and therefore we are bound by the laws we have created for ourselves. What I believe does not mingle well with people on the other side of the world. Do I dare impose my viewpoints on them by means of violence and superior technology?

Come on. It is happening and yet there are so many different things going on that by acting on one we set a precedence that cannot be stopped.

Huh? Not to bash you about the head and shoulders, but is there a point in your response? I have read several times now and I am confused.

Regardless, I did not (nor will I) sanction that the US (Western) world directly take on the Kony issue. I said there are cheaper, more effective means to deal with one bad actor. I am sure with the proper incentive, a local source could solve this problem.

It's too late COL. We have special operations forces in 4 African countries doing exactly what you and I are not willing to sanction.

You may be right my friend....I hope not. While it may seem to be the "right" thing to do, there is no true national interest in getting involved there. Still, I am not sure that AFRICOM is getting directly involved. Time will tell.

And it gets better.

IC seem to hae links to a fundamentalist christian organisation.

Questions abound.

My 16 year old is doing a media article on this for school so we have been digging away.

I think he will get an A as he has already figured out the movie is highly emotive, has little substantiated fact ... and nearly three minutes of interivews with a 3 year old.

That should tell you something.

Game on ...

Sham/Scam/crap.

Interesting that you did catch that it played on emotions more than substance and facts. Since we all know and I fully admit that I lack empathy for many, it doesn't really do much for me.
March 13, 2012 12:13:20 PM

Of course it plays on emotions. It is the most effective way to manipulate the masses because it works.

See Sally Struthers and the poor African kid with flies in his eyes.

It is the method of neuro-association. You take something like a child (happy), but put that child in a bad place (sad), then you come in and say donate money and you will be their savior (happy). The goal being you associate making that sad child happy by providing money which magically makes life better for the child.

I used to get phone calls from my previous local fire department. They would ask for donations. Sure, how much of it goes to the fire department itself? 12% of what I donate. The rest is overhead, profit (even in a non-profit company), etc.

What in the world? Is that the same guy with the little boy in the video?

I've been de-hydrated before. It didn't made me want strip down and masturbate in the street.

How can we be sure ...
