Hi
New to the groupso please forgive me if this has been covered before.
We were sold a Fortigate 50 firewall by our ISP for a 15 user network, we
are using between 3 and four VPN (pptp) connections for remote users and
have now started using webmail access to our internal server.

We seem to be getting more problems with VPN authentication and hangs during
webmail sessions now so I sarted loking at uprades.

There are a number of software upgrades for the Fortigate but all of them
seem to come with dire warnings about using them with greater than 5 users.
Should I upgrade the software any way of uprade (replace) the whole unit.

Any words of wisdom gratefully accepted

Colin

Hi Colin,

A word of advice from a reseller that has sold over 100 FG50's : for you
setup you need at least a FG60 or even better a FG100.

Ask your ISP to take back the FG50 and replace it by one of the above. Or
use the FG50 at one of your teleworkers home (your boss or yourself ;-)

The latest supported FortiOS for the 50 is 2.36 (mainly because the lack of
memory to run all features of 2.50 - that's why there is now a FG50A with
more memory installed).

Fortigates are great value for money Firewalls (+ all the other stuff they
do) but you should size 'em correctly.
