I am just about to puchase a New PC.
The Specs are
Motherboard:MSI K7N2 NFORCE 2 8X AGP
Processor:AMD Athlon XP 2800
Memory:1GB (2 x 512MB PC2700 DDR)
Hard Drive:120GB UDMA 100 7200RPM HD
Graphics Card:ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 8x,128MB DDR,TV OUT,DVI
WIN XP PRO
I have used my Previous PC's solely for Gaming and this will be no different.
In my 3 previous PC's i basically turned them on and they worked fine which is'nt bad seeing i built 2 of them myself. So i just left them alone and just had my fun.So i understand what Hardware does what and how it all fits together.
However this time i would like to learn a bit more about how i Tweak the best performance out of my new system.
So things like FSB'Voltage'Bios and Overclocking are Alien to me.
So should i just leave it as it is when i get it or mess about with the settings?
With these components, OC'ing will be possible. You will need to do some reading in the OC'ing section for the best ways to go about doing it, but that motherboard will have some headroom to move up a little bit. At the same time, that will be one of the top setups available today, so you won't really need to do any OC'ing for the next couple of years. If you feel the need to crank out a little more performance, go for it!

Yeah, do some overclocking. That way, when you change something and then can't get it to boot, you can make a thread that says
"HELP!!! I OC'd my machine with the stock cooler (that's good enough, right?) and now it won't post! I put the flames out, and power-cycled it, but I get nothing! Someone please help me!"
Heh-heh. Actually, yeah, do as stated above and read some in the THG overclocking section (or another forum's similar section). Ask questions in there and you'll probably get better responses, to be honest. "The Other" isn't as good a place for that type of question. Have fun.
