Working on another old PC, a Hewlett Packard Vectra VE, Pentium III. The
memory slots are empty, so I can't even boot it up to see if it works. I
don't work on PC's all that much, so while this may be a common memory type,
I've never seen it before. Other memory cards I've seen are about 3" wide.
The memory slots on this PC are about 5.25" wide. What kind of memory does
it use? What are sizes this type of memory comes in? Thanks,

What you remember were called "SIMMs".
What the world moved on to while you weren't looking are called "DIMMs".
If it's a P3, it most likely used 168 pin SDRAM "PC100" or "PC133" DIMMs.
The easiest way for you to buy the correct memory is to go to www.crucial.com and use their Memory Selector widget. Crucial memory is guaranteed to work...

Hi,
Thanks for the tip. I tried crucial site and it worked fine to id what I
was looking for. I searched after your post and found several other sites
that did the same thing. Some day I'll move into the 21 century. ;^)
Thanks again,
Joe
