Don't bother - they're probably too busy counting all their money.
=)

Big companies don't bother directly listening to users - they leave it
up to market research companies, focus groups, marketing consultancies
etc. This is because they then have tangible data to analyse and
compare, as opposed to unintelligible fanboy rants.

They might scan web for user comments on discovered bug/glitches/etc
(saves them time/cash see?), but they don't look for concept ideas or
advice.

I work at a voice over studio, and last year I sent an email begging that my
wife and I do some pedestrian chatter for free! We just wanted to be a
small part of SA. All I got back was a " Thank you for your interest in
RockStar Games" letter.

There is no way that Rockstar will listen to non-contracted poeple for
"ideas". They may even destory any unsolicted "ideas" that they
receive.

The reason is simple, they don't want thousands of people screaming
"that was my idea, where is my cut of the cash?" when they release a
new game.

I
However, if you want to work for Rockstar then go to their web page
and click on "jobs" (it's near the bottom of the front page)

Or else if someone happens to mention a good one, they'll use it and say it
was their idea all along. And there will be no proof to suggest otherwise.

They don't care if people scream that. Unless those people were working for
a game company and can prove proximity to someone on Rockstar's development
team, anyone screaming that just looks like a lunatic and has no case.

This is especially true when you realise that the GTA series, although
ground-breaking in it's gameplay and general feel, isn't really that
original in terms of storyline.

Rockstar are a really shady company, but it all adds to the mystery of
what and when they are developing something new. They obviously don't
want anybody to know until there's little or no competition, and then
the game pretty much advertises itself.

I think I got more information on San Andreas from fan websites and
this very newsgroup than I did from the official site.

Soooo, Manhunt II anyone?

Cheers,
Rob

Yeah, the official site is flashy, but for information on a new Rockstar
game you have to look elsewhere. It's almost like viral marketing, you have
to scour the Internet and the newsagents to find out the tiniest new snippet
of information.

Maybe that's why computer gaming magazines love to put big GTA covers on
their magazines - we buy the mag for a fiver to read an article saying, "The
new GTA game will be a bit like the other ones, but a bit better."

They're not daft, these people.
