Dear All,

I'm purchasing a new laptop Asus G53JW-A1 from xoticpc and have selected my HDD config as follows:

1 x 90 GB OCZ Vertex 2 Sandforce SSD
1 x 500GB 7200 RPM hard disk
Windows 7 Home Premium

I expect the xoticpc technician to install Windows on the SSD. My question is how much space does the Windows 7 recovery partition take and is it possible to move that partition to the second hard drive (i.e. the 500 GB one)?

Thanks! :)

The recovery partition is 100MBytes. It's definitely possible to put the recovery partition on a second drive - if the Windows 7 install procedure sees available space on a drive other than the one you're installing to then it will place the recovery partition there.

The downside of this is that you won't be able to boot the system if the other drive fails.
