Intel has been seeming a little slow-witted, of late, as if the key
players had breathed too many fumes from one of the many chemicals used
to manufacture micrprocessors.
Never fear, though. Intel still knows how to stage manage...
If Otellini's appearance didn't start well, he more than saved face n
front of the potentially hostile Mac crowd. His best move of the day
was rolling the tape of Apple's "Toasted Bunny" 1996 ad, in which one
of Intel's bunny-suited dancers gets torched to show its inferiority to
the PowerPC. "They burned our bunny person!," Otellini said. "But we
didn't hold a grudge." Not anymore, anyway.

I wonder. If you walk the hallways of Intel, do you eventually come
upon a door marked something like, "Special Situations," behind which
there are well-paid staff making sure that, no matter what the
eventuality, the Intel executive on the hot-seat will be able at least
to get a laugh?
That's not Apple's team, of course, Yousuf, but, as we all know,
Intel's marketing engine generally comes with the chips.
