if we are to separate gay people, then why isnt there black schools? or schools in canada for native people?

or how about schools for non-white people?



i can see how they are trying to give gay kids a chance to be in a place where they arent discriminated. but that doesnt solve anything, beacuse the people who still discriminate them are going to be around when they leave school.

there needs to be EDUCATION on the issue, with teachers confronting discriminating students and showing them how wrong it is.

I think kids that go to that school will be singled out and treated more cruely than gays that go to a regular high school by people outside the school. Couldn't you imagine a bunch of punk ass high school kids hearing about it and intentionally going out of the way to harass the kids there.

Some people just don't know how to think properly.

This is bad indeed on account it won't help the situation at all. Phial said it right, EDUCATION.

I also wonder just HOW MANY will apply there, lest they find it discriminating on themselves and not finding too many there. I don't know if it'll be that succesful, especially if it's for sub-18 year olds who are still trying to find out their true sexuality.

No kidding. I can't see how someone could tolerate getting beat up 2-3 times a week. That's just pathetic.

Start fightint dirty. Bring weapons. That would have tought those little pricks to stay away. Also, frame them for crimes. This guy was really mean to someone I know, like big time. Not physically though. So, he was tired of it so he bought some marijuana, put it into small paper sacks, and slid them into the guys locker at school. He made a tip to the principle that this kid was selling weed out of his locker, so security checked and the guy got arrested. Hi-larious.

When I was in high school, if someone pushed me intentionally, I would hurl them across the hallway into the lockers. I took a lot of abuse too...but I "got back".

I once got surrounded by a group of kids who wouldn't let me leave without a fight, so I berated them for ganging up on me, told them to send their best fighter forward, and kicked his arse. And since it was a gang thing, I didn't even get suspended, but several of them did. I even got an excused absense so I could go home, take a shower, and change clothes!

Several years ago I was on the swing and this kid wouldn't stop throwing rocks at me. I told him to stop, he didn't, and after several times getting more aggrivated each time I got off and hurled him. He did a few flips and slammed into a wall and was out for a little bit. In the meantime his big brother came so I punched the brother in the stomach and ran.

All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening.

When I first started college, I couldn't find any funding except for that small federal PELL grant. I saw kids going for free, supported by programs such as UNCF, NAACP, and several state programs for "inner city kids". The inner city programs assume that kids from cities have less money than kids from, say, suburbs. I had no money at all and came from a rural area, so...I had to watch as people who didn't even have the desire to be there...got their free ride...so they could party College style.

What do you want to bet these kids get the BEST education available, so they can have the BEST grades, and will be given additional funding for college because of their "minority" status, as well as loads of scholarship for their "accademic achievement"?

Heck, if I was that age and lived there, I might fake being gay just for the additional help with college!

Oh, and if you're foreign, College in the U.S. refers to University level training. "Community Colleges" and "Junior Colleges" offer training similar to the first 2 years of a "Uni".

gay isnt the issue with that. plain abuse. doesnt matter who you are,wher you come from, what sexual tendancies you have. NO ONE should be treated like that

I didn't believe in violence mainly. After awhile I got over it... then they just got more people. By the time I left the school I was 'hunting' people who were part of the group who beat me, trying to catch them alone to return the favor... but it really didn't matter. The beatings were pretty consistant and never worse than a cracked rib or severe bruising.

Humorously, my doctor turned my parents into child services for child abuse, that created quite a fiasco.

i dont see any solution with this . it merely hides the problem. OK, maybe it would be good for kids who really are having a tough time, BUTTT , something has to be done about teh people infringing on their rights as well. those hate-mongers shouldnt be left unpunished, or uneducated

I didn't have the heart to do that. I always tried to make assailants pleed for mercy, rather than continue beating on them. Pleeding for mercy in front of other students is WORSE psychologically than getting beat unconscious, it can change your whole attitude toward life! It ruins your credibility as a thug!

Cracked not broken, broken tend to do things like puncture lungs cracked just hurt like hell when you try to breathe... and I only had that happen a few times when they got a bit over enthusiastic on the kicking and given the choice between my skull and my sides, my skull wins pretty consistantly.

I did eventually defend myself but by then it was too late, once the whipping boy always the whipping boy. When I moved schools I squashed that possibility immediately, first day infact, I planted a book bag with 8 books in it into the skull of a jock who pushed me from behind and then got down and racked his head off the floor until they dragged me off. No one bothered me there after that. Missed the first 3 days of class for out of school suspension, but hey low price to pay.

True, but you have to get them alone, thats harder than it sounds sometimes. 3-5 on 1 ain't such hot odds, I took self defense classes eventually (tae kwon do) and the best advice my teacher could give for those odds is "aim for groin, throat, and solar plexus, make a hole and run like hell." At the point there are three or more people I just generally tried to cause as much damage as possible before they got ahold of me. Being peaceful is a great thing when you can do it, but there comes a time when there is no peace and all that is left is violence.

Edit: One of the guys who decided to try his hand at beating the hell outta me alone caught up with me after school and he was beyond dazed and confused, he was beyond well baked, he was hardly conscious.... slow, real slow, I quite literally kicked him 6" off the ground by his groin (and it was seriously telegraphed, he never even tried to cover he was so gone), he doubled over but didnt go down then stood back up like nothing serious had happened... I honestly got hurt alot in fights but wasn't generally afraid, I knew it would end and what not and that eventually they'd stop, when he got up from that I was terrified, I think I would have probally died to have been kicked that hard in my jewels. Him and I later got to be on speaking terms, he always said he never felt a thing until he got home and slept a few hours, said he woke up feeling like he had a bad case of food poisoning.

Gay people always complain about being singled out by society, so why would any gay person want to attend a school for gays only? this seems like an oversight, i fully belive in equal rights but we've been here before, hello, segragation dosen't work anywhere! especially not in schools. i belive that a more simple suggestion is to educate the ass holes who wanna beat on gay people and teach them to be more tollerant of people, after all these people are the same people who given the chance would have beatten on blacks 30 years ago, for [-peep-] sake teach them. so to reitterate; gay school, no. gays in school yes.

Like I said-- It should be a personal/family choice, like private schooling... and it is. I'm not gay, but I would have attended *ANY* school for a way to escape what I went through... and I know the gay men in ECHS went through worse than I did.

You can't educate away hate. You can't educate away differences. People only change when they want to change. Giving an abused section of the populace a way to escape that abuse is a good thing imo, so long as its never compulsary and they get a quality education.

Hmm, issue is, I feel if you teach them while they're young, like 9-10 years old, it can work. That's the age of influence, and if they have a dynamic teacher at that, it works like a charm.
Our Economy teacher was damn great, nice and sensitive, funny and dynamic. He could only convince. IMO it's the young that need the education now, not the teens. Those are a lost cause sadly. Once a homophobe, always a homophobe, unless you get your ass saved by one.
