Okay, okay, I re-upped despite my complaints. I couldn't find anything
*significantly* better than Verizon, plus they made me a great deal on
everything (my balance went from $2 two days previously to negative $69.xx
after contract kicked in, and we still have $100 in rebates coming).

Now, about this AGPS thing. The V710 has an indicator that the book says
"Indicates when AGPS Service is off (icon is grey), on (icon is white),
or on and finding your location (icon is green)."

To the best of my knowledge I have this turned off (Menu/Settings/Location
Setting/911 Only), yet the indicator always looks green. It also does not
show the "ALI off" indicator (as shown on pp 64-65 of the big manual), or
for that matter the "ALI on" indicator where either should be.

Software version is 8700_01.40.0R if that helps.

If John McCain gets the 2008 Republican Presidential nomination,
my vote for President will be a write-in for Jiang Zemin.

Apparently it transmits your location, either all the time or only when
you call 911. They give NO more detail than that.
