What is the deal with respect. Up until now I thought the only way to
get respect up was by doing missions and by whacking the other posse's
guys. I've done a fair bit of both but respect is still hardly showing
at all. I've done about 10-20 missions.
I've noticed that once or twice I've 'jacked cars of my hommies, I'd
assumed this has a negative impact but have no way to be sure.
Any other tips or tricks on respect or cash gathering let me know as I'm
a bit skint too.
Cheers and see ya later y'all.

Right, that makes sense. I had him work out at the gym, he's at about
1/4 muscle right now but it's a bit of a chore so I didn't do much more
than that. I'm not one for cheating but I might do with that since there
isn't any real challenge involved with it, just repeated key pressing.
Cheers

POSSIBLY SPOILERS....
You don't start gaining much respect until you start taking over
territories which comes towards the end of your time in Los Santos (and
then again at the end of the game).
I made loads of cash at the beginning of the game by picking on drug
dealers. You can find them all over Los Santos. There are two kinds
wearing black and white, but you can spot them because they stand still
with their arms folded across their chests. They are always armed, but
often carry $2000 on them.

the 'black' one wears a sleeveless item and the 'white' one wears a
hoodie. The 'black' one is more common.
I'm sure during my many months of playing I have gained respect during
big gun battles with cops

Also, last night I pointed a gun at one of my crew in the cul-de-sac outside
my gaff and my respect went up and now the bastard won't stop following me
and shooting at whatever I shoot at, which can be quite comical. I licked
off a shot at another member of my crew who was walking by, so my buddy
unloaded on him and didn't hit him once. LOL

This is your picking up of gang members. As your respect goes up you
can pick up more. It's rarely useful as they cause more problems than
they solve. Contrary to some sites information they won't follow you
in another car if you don;t have enough seats for them and it doesn't
matter how big the vehicle is but how many doors it has to how many
homeys you can take with you anywhere. A four door car is you and
three homeys, any extra will just stay behind. If you jump a bike one
homey will get on behind you (pushbikes are just for one!). There are
a couple of bigger planes which can carry only you and bigger
helicopters which can take only two. it's stupid.
The real exception to the rule is the bus. If you can find one of them
you can take quite a gang around on little trips to the seaside, days
out down the ballas hood etc.

When you pause the game, are there yellow and purple shaded areas in Los
Santos? If so, they represent rival gangs, while the green shaded areas
represent your gang. If not, then there is a critical mission or two that
you need to complete that will reveal the rival gang territories to you.
To boost your respect (and your weapon skills), you need to attack members
of the rival gangs *in their territory* to start a gang war, and then defeat
three waves of enemy gang members without leaving that territory. After the
third wave, the territory becomes part of the Grove Street Families
territory (your gang) and is shaded green, and your respect goes up.
In the process, you also tend to a lot of pocket change and ammo.
And for the record, I find these gang wars easiest to win with the magnum
(or whatever the big handgun is called) and small assault weapon.

From the books, didn't even know there was a movie, but I probably won't
bother watching it, movies rarely live up to the books they're made from.

The first one just makes the gang wars available to you. Some missions might
affect gang territories here and there, but otherwise the gang wars are all
up to you! Just find enemy gangsters and fire away!

IF they're on their own turf. Sometimes when they're around the edges
you can get a gang war going but usually they have to be inside their

As long as they are clearly rival gang members, they're near their own
territory, and there isn't already a gang war going on, then a gang war can
be started. :-P
But pay attention: they will come after your territories in return,
including some of the ones you've taken from them! It is war, after all!

Oh yeah. I've only been seriously damaged in these fights a couple of
times. Once was at the top of the landscape where it's hilly. They
somehow got above and to the sides of me on a narrow road and were
well armed, I couldn't even begin to target on them.

I never had that problem. I obliterated them all so quickly that they never

Dude, you're going to have enemies quick if you keep saying things like
that. That's TWO comments of yours that blatantly warned of possible future
storyline events. And I certainly haven't made any.
Now, I don't care at all... This is a GTA group and the storyline has been
fully available for almost 8 months. But, still. Don't tell me not to spoil
anything. I haven't come close and you have twice.
