I need to know if my computer will run it reasonably well.

I have:

Windows XP
Athlon XP 2400
1GB RAM
16x DVD ROM
128MB ATI 9000 pro

I fear the graphics card may be a weak point, especially because I have
heard people have been having problems with framerate even using fairly high
spec machines.

What do you think?

I reckon you'll be allright, you're pretty much at the recommended spec. You
can tweak a lot of options to get it running better anyway, so you should be
able to get it going nicely.

Good to go, just make sure you have about 4 gig clear on your hard drive
before you install.

I've got a 2400 with XP and 1GB RAM. My video card is a GeForce 4200
128MB, don't know how that compares to an ATI 9000 pro.

Anyway, I settled on 1024x768x32, all graphical options including
draw distance up to max except no AA. It chugs a little but definitely
runs reasonably well.

I'm running it well on an XP 1800+ and 512Mb of DDR. I had to get rid of my
64mb MX420 graphics card, but my new 128mb NX6200 is working wonderfully at
1024x768x32 with maximum draw distance and all the bells and whistles turned
on. The only thing that presents it with a problem is turning the
anti-aliasing up to "3", but setting it on "2" works fine and looks great.

I don't know much about graphics cards, so I don't know whether yours is
better or worse than mine, but for what it's worth I reckon you'll be fine
with your setup.

A 9000 is about the same as a Geforce 5200
a 4200 might need to be upgraded since many of the newer games wont support
it. You can upgrade to a 6000+ GeForce for about 150, try www.newegg.com for
the best price. A 5200+ Geforce runs around 60-80 and runs all of the new
games. But your system should have no problem with San Andreas, whereas you
have no shot at running Battlefield 2.

The minimum specs are
1Ghz Pentium III
256 Megs of RAM
64 meg Video Card with DirectX 9.0 support Geforce 3 or better
8X DVD drive
3.7 Gig of Hard Drive Space.

My new GeForce 6200 was only £88, and it's since been found cheaper
elsewhere. It runs San Andreas really well.
