At the VZW store this afternoon asking questions about the 8000. I said
that it was common knowledge that the VX-7000 cable will work just fine
on the 8000. The techi said that if I did that the phone would be
basically destroyed because of "frequency shifts" . He continued to say
that vcast and the ability to make a broadband data connection would be
forever destroyed.
why would this otherwise fine young man say this? Are they ordered to
say these absurd things? Inquiring minds want to know.

I ordered an data cable for my Lg 8000 phone off of e bay and the cable is
for the LG 7000 and it works just fine. Nothing was destroyed on my phone
and I still can use all the features ( V Cast, Text messaging, Mobile web,
ect. ) with out no problem. I thing the tech you talked is just giving you a
run around and dose not know what he/she is talking about. I think that it
is funny that the regular end user knows more that the techs at Verizon.

Its likely the "techi" (whatever that is) was the usual sales droid.
Unfortunately it seems to be universal (that includes best buy and other
places that even make the claim that they know something) that they only
know a few buzzwords that they learned during that mornings "training".

Techi = technical support person in gary slang

Anyway I know what you mean about the sales droids (rat shack seems to
be the worst). Thing is, this was not a sales droid but the official
technical support person. Real nice kid, but what he said amazed me.

There is a saying....
If you can't dazzle them with fact, baffle them with bullshit...

This is an example of total bullshit.
