I installed SP2 and only got minimal video with 4 bits, with my ATI drivers
not working.

I succeeded in uninstalling service pack 2. While most applications
thought I had a different resolution, I was able to see well enough to get
to the uninstall menu and uninstall it. It had a few errors, and took a
while to locate and install my ATI drivers. For some reason my Sony
monitor #2 (which I use for another computer as well), has tremendously
distorted picture unless I pick 75 Hertz).

Adaptor type is C.P. Technologies RADEON 9200SE, according to the ATI
applciation.

So I am back, and I don't want to accidentally upgrade until I know my video
card will work.

I logged onto ATI's support site, but haven't received a reply yet.

Did you install the latest Catalyst drivers from ATI? Version 4.8 is latest.

The hard solution is to uninstall SP-2.
The easy solution is to go to the manufacturers web site and get the
latest video drivers.
That is most likely what they will say.

I just went in downloaded some drivers, but that is version 6.14.10.6467, so
I expect these are different drivers. My card is a C.P. Technologies, Inc.
RADEON 9200SE with two monitors.

Trying to find a site that tells me which driver for my card works with SP2
isn't easy.

That is the Catalyst 4.8 driver. Did you download it from the ATI site? If
you got it somewhere else then get the official driver from ATI. And did
you reinstall it after SP2?

I installed it from the ATI site after uninstalling SP2.

Does this mean I should try SP2 again? Or should I download it again and
save it to the desktop or something first?

I'm having no trouble with SP 2, but I'm using a Radeon 9800, not a 9200.
You should download the service pack and the driver and then install from
the downloaded files--that way if you have problems and have to undo
something you won't have to repeat the download later.

I'm having trouble with a CP Technologies Radeon 9600XT Bravo on a pre-
SP2 system. Lots of driver trouble, unstable display, crashes, lockups.

Does anyone know anything about CP Technologies' products?

Instead of using CP Technologies drivers, which are probably outdated,
use the latest drivers from ATI at www.ati.com . Or what I would
suggest is the Omega Drivers (they give a better quality image) from
www.omegadrivers.net :)
