LCD monitor turns off after 1 second

I bought a Viewsonic VA720 LCD monitor about 18 months ago. Recently
it started having a problem I can't figure out. When I turn it on, it
displays the image properly, but only for a second or so. Then the
screen goes black. If I turn it off and turn it back on again, it
again displays the image and then it goes black again after about a
second. What's going on, and can I fix this?

There are a few display's i know that have the symptoms when one of
the backlightconverters is failing. Check the fuses on the converter
