When I bought my Dell 8250 about 1 1/2 years ago with the 1800 LCD and
a separate video card, I noticed that the desktop icons would be
"redrawn" every so often. I figured the included video card just
couldn't keep up so went out and bought a NVidia GeForce FX5200 card.
I probably was too cheap as it didn't cure the problem. However,
everything else was useable until recently after I installed XP SP-2
and AVG Anti-Virus Pro 7.0. I really can't tell you exactly when the
problems started but one of these is probably responsible.

I have 512MB RAM, and 2.4Ghz processor. 60 GB hard drive, mostly
empty. I'm not a high speed gamer but do enjoy Bejeweled and Pocket
Tanks. Even Solitaire seems sluggish now. But the first two games
are just pausing all over the place. You shoot at a Tank and the
bullet hangs in mid-air for a bit before proceeding. I've checked my
system resources (which occasionally are at 100% and require a reboot)
while playing these games and that's not the problem. I haven't a
clue - does anyone?
