Hi,

Does it exist a hardware converter box with a USB connector and a LAN socket
which I can connect to my LAN and connect a USB webcam to this box. I need
to place a webcam more than the max 5 meters from my computer.....

Before you rush to the keyboards: This is NOT a USB network adaptor, if
fact it is the contrary - a network to USB adaptor...

I see that Linksys come with "Network Storage Link for USB 2.0" which is
exactly such a converter that I look for, but it is probably specialized for
storage devices...

Thanks for any hints on available such 'boxes'.

I did the same only I spliced the LAN and webcam. just cut the cord and splice each side to the sides of your LAN cable. if you dont want it to be permanent, you can buy USB-to-LAN adapters on eBay or maybe radio shack
