Rudder control for FlightSim2004

I have a Microsoft Sidewinder joystick without the twisting rudder control. If I buy a steering wheel with pedals, like the Sidewinder Forcefeedback Steering Wheel, will I be able to use the pedals as rudders on my FlightSim 2004. Would it allow me to use both controls - the joystick and the pedals at the same time, or does it not allow it(basically, the pedals are only used with the steering wheel, thus only racing games). And lastly, is it just better to buy a new joystick with the twisting rudder control.

I would like to get a great joystick and steering wheel. And I would rather have pedals for the rudder controls in FS2004. Can anyone help?

i would just buy a new joystick (microsoft force feedback 2 is the best out there) i have one and it works great, easy to control.
