Being new to video editing, I am quickly discovering that my current
internal hard drive does not have the capacity to capture much more
video from my DV camcorder.

I am considering getting an external hard drive and I would appreciate
some advice and opinions.

1. Which connection is faster - firewire or USB2?
2. Are there any problems that typical arise when capturing video
directly to an external hard drive from a DV camcorder?
3. Any specs I should look for in an external hard drive?

Thank you very much.

I was surprised to find out the performance of the external drive had a
lot to do with the manufacturer as much as the format.

You may want to check this site out.:

I find that they do very good reviews of products.
If you are purchasing a Preinstalled External drive they have some
reviews of them as well.

Since I am preliminary stages of building a Video Editing machine
myself I am afraid I don't have much more to offer.

Sincerely,
Vince
