Help installing win 7!

Sounds like a defective Hard drive. Is this a SATA drive? Is it SATA II ona SATA I motherboard? Try using the jumper to change the drives mode. What motherboard and drive?

my mobo is the asus sabertooth x58, while my hd is the wd caviar black 500 gb. i am not very good with computers so please make yoru explanations as easy to follow as possible! thanks you for your response! im going a bit crazy trying to fix it for 3 days

actually it seems upon further review that my hd is sata 2. does sata 2 mean 3 gb/s? because both the mobo and hd do the 3 gb/s sata thing.

system cant partition the drive? OR system can't install in the partition drive?

nope theyre both fine.   my bios recognizes the hd.

go Bios - press F9 save & Boot
insert DVD win7 in drive & Select your WDC change : Where do you want Install Win7
click Disk Unloccated Space-Drive Option Advanced-New- window Auto Partition Z:100MB & C - select C: Next

Z:100 Mb (system recovery)
Instalation Win7 Bro... in Primary HDD C: bro... u can format it & can add patition too

i got the same error again: "Windows could not format a partition on disk 0. The error occurred while preparing the partition selected for installation. Error code: 0x80070057"  

Error code: 0x80070057": i have 1CD with this massage

what cd was it?

CD/DVD win7 not perfect at burning/compilation , try your win7 in other computer ...  
or use another NEW DVDWin7 for install it!

how do i know if its not a hd problem? id ont want to waste 100 dollars.

Check your DVD OS Win7 in other PC may your friend have

ok i did some tinkering in command prompt. i made a 250 gb partition but it is somehow in the RAW format. im trying to convert it to nfts. any tips?

yeah your HDD no problem,
if finish try install again, problem still same it's mean your DVD Win7 Corrupt/ damage

is that anew harddrive? or used?
you need to go to advanced delete the whole harddrive
2 partitation the harddrive this option leaves you the choice of haveing 2 operateing system at the same time, if you want to use the whole hardrive put all 500 gbs and partitation the space

ok right now, through command prompt, im formatting the partition im going to install windows on. apparantly that partition is RAW so im converting to NFTS. im formating 50 gbs. its taking really, really long. 18% completed in 2 hours.

dang it it didnt work. it said 100% complete but there was an error message and its still RAW

I would RMA the drive.

of course I format via DOS very very Slow & Long   different use Win7 OS very fast  

i used partition wizard to format the hard drive to nfts. this time, installation got past copying files, but when expanding files, i got the error:
"Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570"

another pop up box also appeared: "the file or directory \Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-tabletpc-uihub_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385?none_6f7e04cab5e74750 is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk Utility"

master your OS installation Corrupt, damage & error if don't waste $100 RMA your OS, if u get from download. u must download again via torrent or RAPID very fast!

i used a friend's copy of win 7 but i when expanding the files, it wouldnt get past 0%... im guessing my hd might be defective?

yeach prepare RMA prepare it , Or FIX IT with HDD generator software in your Friend Computer..

this time, in the bios i set the sata controller to achi.. so far installation is working fine... 19% expanding files...

take PSU from AC clear CMOS, it make your System by defaut if u cannot install your Master Os installation errroooor
