I have the following:

Dell 4100 (933MHz)
256M RAM
Windows Me
Samsung SyncMaster 174v
ATI Radeon 7200, software version 4.00

I've noticed that some images are much darker on my system than on
others. I've tried using the monitor controls, but, in addition to
being absurdly placed and (un)marked, they were of no help. So, I
went to Control Panel/Display/Settings/Advanced and to the ATI Color
tab, and upped the brightness. That was much more effective than the
monitor, and it worked. Unfortunately, it also washed out most
everything else I use. So, I created a profile for the new settings.
I also created a profile of the old settings (which really wasn't
necessary because they were default settings). I figured I could go
back and forth between them when needed.

The problem is the old settings don't work. I even deleted the
profiles and just went back to defaults, which is where I was. It
still doesn't work. The system looks brighter, washed out, and I
can't get it back to the way it was. It's very annoying. I even
tried lowering the brightness below default, and it still looks washed
out.

I'm assuming it's a card problem. The only thing I can think of is to
reinstall the drivers I have.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Bob
