To kill an American

There was a news report that someone in Pakistan had published in a newspaper an offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American. So an Australian wrote the following reply to let everyone know what an American is, so they'd know when they found one.



An American is English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may
also be Canadian, Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or
Pakistani, or Afghan. An American may also be a Cherokee, Osage, Blackfoot, Navaho, Apache, Seminole or one of the
many other tribes known as native Americans. An American is Christian, or he could be Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as each of them chooses. An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God. An American is from the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes the God given right of each person the pursuit of happiness. An American is generous. Americans have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need. When Afghanistan was overrun by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country! As of the morning of September 11, Americans had given more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan. Americans welcome the best, the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best athletes. But they also welcome the least. The national symbol of America, The Statue of Liberty, welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, tempest tossed. These in fact are the people who built America. Some of them were
working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11, 2001 earning a better life for their families. The World Trade Center victims were from at least 30 other countries, cultures, and first languages, including those that aided and abetted the terrorists..

So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo, and Stalin, and Mao Tse-Tung, and every bloodthirsty tyrant in the history of the world. But, in doing so you would just be killing yourself. Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.

But they also attack the worst, the least armed, the poorest people, the smallest countries, and the ugliest miss world contestants. The national symbol of America, The Statue of Liberty, its used as a symbol of american idepedance and as an excuse to destroy other nations, it suposedly welcomes anyone but it really welcomes tourists for their money, and cheap labour from other countries. These in fact are the people who built America, yet the same people that are living in 3rd world conditions serving the rich. Some of them were working in the Twin Towers the morning of September 11, 2001 paying off american bank loans for their families. The World Trade Center victims were from all other countries as the world trade centre was home to the worlds most powerful economic terrorists, that have been keeping third world countries sub-servant, so as to provide more money to america through profit from trade and markups, rather than from production. the world trade centre was the head of economic attacks throught the world. so was respectfully the worlds best military target....

This blind rage against the United States and George Bush is getting old. So we don't go over to Africa and give them everything that we have, cry some more. It is the governments of those poor countries that should be blamed rather than the government of another nation trying to be generous and trying to help. goerge is a name. thats what is needed for the media. when something happens, people need a name.

george does do a whole lot, he IS the president after all, BUT he is used as a cover. when the "US" needs to do something, it gets it done. i live in the US and i love it here, but there is no way you can sit there and tell me the government is not corrupt. politics is corrupt and therefore you have no point to make.

the US is one of the best courtiers to live in, in my opinion, but even today it does things that you and i don't know about. why don't we hear about it on the news? because americans shouldn't know about those kinds of things. its all about how well its done and the US does it pretty damn well.

i, originally, come from iran. the iranian government is so corrupt and its well known. thats one of the main differences. that and the US government doesn't screw it own people. it screws other countries, but you don't hear about that. just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean its not happening tho.

Ass or not I do not take kindly to people claiming things with no proof. Present some and we'll talk. If you honestly believe that everyone in politics is corrupt then I feel sorry for you. This is a democratic government where people run for office not to make money but to make a differance. That may sound niave but it is not, it's the American dream. Of course the US acts to protect its own interests. That is the nature of any government, to protect it's own. If no one else is strong enough to resist us then make way for evoloution, the strongest will survive. Two centuries will not pass before we have a world government, mark my words it's going to happen. No the US will not take over the world through weapons and war, but it may be done just as easily through politics and diplomacy. Maybe then people will stop their bitching.

It's very easy to sit and say "Gimme proof". Gimme proof there's no corruption before you demand proof that there is. Corruption can range from deaths due to money deals, to one politician writing off certain taxes in a job related way. It happens. They're all at it.

I do plenty of research, that's all I do. I sit here and I search the internet for news and history and all I have seen were countless cases in which the US has done the right thing. You all say that I am niave, that may be so. I'm not exactly sure what we are arguing here, alltaken be very careful not to take everything your professors say as absolute truth. I know that most of my professors only became teachers to influence our opinions. An opinion is something one can only arrive at after careful research and personal searching. Scammy I'm not saying our government is perfect. Any system that requires people is inherently imperfect. What I'm asking you to do is to re evaluate your opinion that all politicians are corrupt. Don't you think it's possible that some of them might just be trying to do good? America isn't perfect, but it's the best there is.

Those are the two main ideas I was arguing against as it seems we have lost our focus I thought I'd bring it back. Once again I ask you to show me a recent instance in which our leaders engaged in activity that was benificial to themselves with their power. It seems to me, being a wise Elf and all, that the USA can't please everybody. It's a hyperpower, something unique in this world and in order to do one thing right, someone, somewhere will see it as wrong. Yet they seem to do a lot more right than wrong. Cut off US aid and see what that does for the world. Some countries would cease to exist. Others would have no hope of ever existing.
