I was at the truck stop in Flint County (countryside) and accepted a
mission. As soon as I pulled out of the stop and into the road, a plane
crash landed in the road and was smoking like crazy.

It just nicked the trailer causing me to fail the mission literally 10
seconds after it had started...is this a common occurrence in SA? Do the
plane crashes often interfere with missions like that?

Heh

That's just bad luck. I've only seen one plane crash, it didn't effect
my mission it was just good comedy.

I was just pulling out of the low rider garage in Los Santos and what looked
like a second world war fighter crashed into the houses in front of me -
really weird and totally random as I redid the mission and didn't happen
again...

on ps2 On one of the missions where you are on the big ships a few
people noticed a plane in trouble seems to buzz the ship near the end
of the mission. It has crashed on the ship and caused things to happen
wich have affected the end of the mission. It didn't stop me
completing it but made it very awkward.

I had one crash into me when I was biking up to the top of Mount Chiliad.

I had a plane crash save me from a 5 star police chase. Cops wouldn't let me
make it into the garage to paint the car by destroying the cars and blocking
the entrance, so I started running and a plane crashed behind me killing all
of the cops and taking out the chopper above. I made it back to the casino
on foot and finished the mission ending the chase. It was the 'photograph
the casino plans' mission.
