Hi,

I need to replace the video card in a Pentium II machine that has an AGP 1
slot.

I don't need speed, just 1280x1024 res with hi or true color display (65000
colors is fine).

My local eBay currently has these on offer:
- Nvidia G-Force fx 5200
- Nvidia 16Mb AGP
- ATI Rage 128 16MB AGP
- Nvidia RIVA TNT2 m64 32mb

I can't find any specs that tell me whether any of these cards will work in
AGP 1 slots, of course!

Does anyone know whether any or all of these will work OK in AGP 1?

tia,
RR

I know for a fact GeForce 2 MX 400 (I've tried both 32 MB and 64 MB)
will work in that slot.. I have a machine that sounds a lot like yours.
A Slot 1 processor, no? I've also tested a Stealth II S220 and a Stealth
3D 2000 and they both worked well. All of the cards above have the
capability of rendering in high resolutions with those needed color
qualities.

The bottom three are old enough that they certainly will all work, and
they all should be able to handle 1280x1024x24bpp. My guess is that the
FX5200 will not work; a quick google search suggests they require AGP 2.0.
But I don't know for sure and it could vary depending on the card
manufacturer.

You could aviod the problem altogether by getting a PCI card. There are
still plenty being made. But the last 2 shoulf work, the second one
doesn't have enough info.
