Really, I'va had it with this stupid mission!
I must admit that I got my pilot's license on base of luck, but from the
previous two GTA's, I can say that flying is not too hard.
When I approach the other plane, I have to turn as fast as I can,
without losing too much altitude. That was the first headache, but now I
know about where I will intercept it, so I prepare the turn earlier.
This way, I fly right behind the plane. Then the most annoying,
'make-you-throw-your-pc-out-of-the-window-feeling'-part is to fly within
the corona. Everytime I fly the same direction as the other plane,
somewhere behind it, the other plane seems to accelerate, and fly lower,
so I have to be moving constantly to fly in the corona, which seems
almost impossible.
Seeing the amount of contact points on my radar, and following the
storyline, I fear I must complete this mission, or I won't procede in
the game
So, can anyone teel me how he/she completed this mission?
Jasper.

If you watch the marker (and if it's the same as ps2) it turns from
triangle to square when you are level with the thing. You could aim to
be a little higher or lower than it but not too far off. You could
also try finding the buttons which let you turn the plane without
furiously banking. Can't help you with which ones as on the ps2 it's
the shoulder buttons. The reason it seems to pull away is probably
because you're having to climb to reach it, and the steeper the climb
the slower you seem to be. Last tme I played this mission the damned
plane had reached land before I reached the corona, of course when I
finished the mission I was back miles out to sea.
Just stick with it, be patient and try not to move too suddenly.

Hi...lurker here.
I had exactly the same problem three days ago, and thought I'd wait for
someone to post about it since they surely would. Problem I always had
with the stupid jet was that it moved way too fast for my biplane to
pass through the Corona...I can honestly admit I completed this part
out of sheer luck, lowering at just the exact moment to get through the
Corona...
Nice to see I wasn't the only one.

I finally completed this one. I moved around with the rudder instead of
banking, that was the trick
Rest of the mission was piece of cake.
Thanks for the help.

Do you have to turn around to fly through the circle or can you fly
above the plane and fly down and go through?
Cause I know I did this and flew through the circle and it still told
me to turn around and get behind the plane and fly through it...

yeah, I think i did the same, I was above it going towards it and
dropped into the circle and it sent me round again... probably the
time I know I failed. I think you're right and you have to come from

Yeah - enter the ring from behind.
That's a bit of unexpected innuendo from R* ;-)

Oh, I think so. If R* had actually intended the airborne coronas to be
thought of in such a way, they would have made them wrinkly.

I saw an article on a PC glitch for another mission which says that if
you're struggling to get aboard the cargo plane on the bike (one of the
disused airfield missions) set the frame limiter off and the draw distance
to minimum.
When I did this I got on the plane's ramp first time.
It occurred to me that this either slows the plane or speeds up the bike (or
both).
Anyway, I applied the same logic to the freefall mission, flew much higher
than the jet, turned as soon as it came away from the edge of the radar and
guess what? Passed first time...!

That might explain my problems - I have been flying spot on towards the
corona and it seems impossible to catch up. I'll try that later. Thanks for

I've just been struggling with this mission too. I switched off the
frame splitter and decreased draw distance but it made no difference. If
you find yourself below or level with the plane then it is impossible to
catch the corona, I had a couple of attempts where I was literally
inches from the corona yet simply couldn't go fast enough to catch it.
The only way I have found to work is to fly high and dive into the
corona from above, otherwise the cessna is simply too slow. You need to
be fairly confident with your turning of the plane though. I find that
switching to first person view before doing complex manoeuvres helps
keep me from getting disorientated. YMMV

Oh and make sure you put your landing gear down when landing the jet at
the end of this mission. I forgot the first time and crashed, it me
