Re-Uniting the Families (SPOILERS)

Just discovered this mission is a way to get to SF and LV early without the
4-star.

When the cops arrive and you're supposed to go inside the Jefferson, don't.
Go wherever you want. No peds. No cars (except the parked spawners). And
here's the important one: you can't GET any wanted stars -- not even by
visiting SF and LV.

If you want to visit SF (slightly early) or LV (very early) without
consequences, this is a great way. Just steal the jet from the LS airport.
(If you collect cool weapons like the heat-seeker, though, be aware that, to
keep them, you will have to finish the mission so you can save. You might
do a lot of work, then die in the mission.)

It's a spooky world without the people and cars.

The fine points:

You can land a copter on the carrier, and fly over the base south of Verdant
Meadows, without getting any stars. (The missiles WILL fire at you over the
base -- but NOT on the carrier.)

You can enter the cop shop in LS and wail on the cops with no consequences.
(They even cower, like people in the fast food places.)

No stars, but you CAN get the police gate guard and the cops in the
underground lot to shoot back.

Food stands are still manned.

You can find people in the fast food places, bars, etc.

The trolleys still run. (Not sure about the trains.)

Additional note about the Motel: The copter appears to just hover there
forever. Kill the cops. Climb the stairs to the roof (south side). It MAY
be possible to toss a satchel on the copter. Haven't tried it yet. If so,
could be humorous.

I found a mod called "Water Level Customizer" that allows you to
adjust the levels of bodies of water. I set the level to -1000.0
which pretty much eliminated all water. I was able to ride a sanchez
on the solid bottoms. Just don't go to far out into the sea floor or
you drop through the map.

Getting rid of the water reveals many unsuspected features.

Yep, you can satchel the copter.

Yep, it's humorous.

Naw.

Gotta play in the livingroom, on the TV. I feel like I'm "at work" when I
sit at the computer.

Plus, gotta get it that 6 months earlier.

Plus, the PC seems to have endless controller and configuration problems.
No thanks.

The only thing I envy about the PC version is the ability to make those nice
screen-capture images you can e-mail and put up on the Net. I can shoot
digitals from the TV screen, but they ain't even close to the quality of the
pix you PC guys can make.

Oh. And monkeying with the config file(s) might be fun.

my pc is not powerful enough and I doubt I can afford to make it so.

Presumably none of the girlfriends spawn then? Also, are the buildings
you can enter still marked with a yellow entry arrow?

Are Photo Ops available I wonder? The easiest-to-find cameras seem to
be near or next fast food joints in San Fierro.

I've noticed that the bridge to Las Venturas (To the north-east of Los
Santos) is blocked up but never tried the other bridge (Going to San
Fierro, west of LS). It should be the same but I never bothered to
check.

Satchel charges do stick to aircraft, but I had much more fun blowing
them out the sky using the Rhino tank's turret <fx: mwahahahahaa>

Like?

Can you adjust the water levels and have the proper physics (Floating
around near the top of skyscrapers for example) ?

That sort of reminds me of Super Mario Sunshine on the GameCube. After
getting all the way to the last level and having Defino Plaza flooded I
realised I was missing *loads* of blue coins to get more shines but
then got stuck on the last level.

Rob

Dunno. I didn't check out everything. I just messed around for about a
half hour. For example, I know you can't place a horse racing bet (a
message says, "Looks like you're busy. Come back later.") but I didn't try
a casino.

I think all the road blocks are still there. Use a plane.

You can walk/ride around the floor of the waterways and checkout how
the maps are constructed. You can see that they spent a lot of time
creating shores and river bottoms that have quite a bit of terrain.
You can also see the bottoms of structures like the bridges and piers.

The mod allows the wave height as well as the sea level to be
adjusted.

This mod could also be used with an early entry cheat (loophole) to
gain access to the complete map on motorcyle.

Nice work. So this is another no-wanted level mission.
I had known about Sweet's car but not this.
Just like 'you've had your chips', only twice as cool! (SF, LV)

I tried to use this trick to get a Patriot from the military base (ok,
I was trying to get a Rhino but there wasn't one) but I couldn't get
back over the bridge. I got out and ran to find a Packer so I could
jump it off the bridge and onto the grass but when I got it back the
Patriot was gone.

Yeah, getting a (non-flying) vehicle back to LS is going to be a trick. You
could use the flying-cars cheat, I guess. (Do PC players have access to
the same cheats as PS2 players?) But then you'd have a cheat registered,
and you probably wouldn't want to save.

You can get back with a nice load of weapons, however.

The killer is that you still have to finish Reuniting the Families -- and
that's not easy (at least, not on the PS2; those "shoot while somebody else
drives" missions are tough).
