What is the usual cause for a computer to hang? Can this be the Windows OS or Memory? Can it be fixed by reformatting/reinstalling the OS or change the Memory?

If you have low memory(64MB), too many programs running in the backround, onboard video(sharing your RAM), that usually causes hangs. If this applies to your system, I don't know. Could be a bunch of things.
