Never had this problem untill a couple of days ago, after I updated my
drivers to the lastest version.

I get a message from Windows that" computer restarted after unexpected
shutdown" "Windows detected a possible device failure." "Driver for the
display device was unable to complete a drawing operation." The display
driver for FX5200 seem to be responisble for the system instability.

Wavey white vertical lines appear on my screen then the screen goes black.
And the monitor green sync light turns to yellow.

"Latest drivers" doesn't mean best drivers. You should completely remove
the new drivers & revert back to the ones you were using.

Just checked the fan on my FX5200 and the fan is dead. Not even a year old
yet, never buy another Geoforce card again.

How can I fit another fan on it? I don't have the cash to get a new card
yet.

arctic cool makes a quiet add-on fan that will likely work, and is about
$15. it takes up the adjacent pci slot though.
http://svc.com/vga-rev3.html

zalman makes a fanless heat-pipe cooler for $20-25.
http://store.yahoo.com/coolingfan/noname.html

however, if it is just the fan that is damaged, you could unscrew it from
the heatsink and go to an electronics store for a replacement - i'm sure the
size and voltage are not unique. :) the original manufacturer may even send
you one free it you complain politely.

Why not hang a fan OVER the card....Zalman has a nice "hangover clip"
wich allows you to mount a 80x80mm fan above...well..just everywhere
in your pc!

Anyhow, whats up with that "never buy another Gforce card again"...
problems happen with every branch in computer hardware.... every
product can have failing parts after a while.

That 1 year is pretty short for a videocard fan... ah...but then again
such mostly happens on the cheaper cards.. see my point? If you can
use a cheaper fan on your cheap ass products that saves you $3 per
card... and in the low price market.. $3 is a big difference.

That is why some branchnames are generally about $10 to $20 more
expensive for about the same product... better cooling solutions!
