I've done a bunch of animation with 3dsmax 3,4, and 5, and whenever I used it the quality was terrible. Divx, or full frames for me:)

This codec used to be bundled with WinXP. With the SP1 release MSFT stopped bundling it. The problem is that many games need it, including MSFT games. If you go to get the codec Indio tries to charge you $15 or something. What Spitfire is doing is hooking all of you up since MSFT screwed you.

I'm dissapointed with the response I've got here. I did 2 clean WinXP installations (one with no SP, one with SP1) to pack and test this codec

Is it worth downloading the SP1? i am on Dial-Up so its quite impossible for me to download that stuff.

I've downloaded SP1 with 33.6k dial-up. Depend on how much patience you have

my biggest single file downloads:

#1) 3DMark2003 176 MB
#2) WinXP SP1 ~135 MB
#3) Win2000 SP4 ~130 MB
#4) Win2000 SP3 ~125 MB

My biggest download (with multiple 4 MB RAR volume)

#1) Serious Sam : The Second Encounter ~530 MB
#2) Serious Sam : The Second Encounter ~385 MB

everything with 33.6k dial-up

I cud ask them to download that stuff and burn it on a CD. Thats what i did for the 3DMark 03.

It's the same Indeo Codec. Nothing different.

BTW, from my personal experience, Indeo codec gives quite good qualiy when q=90% or more. The problem is its slooooooow.
