Hello, I'm still experimenting probs with my screen. I have a gigabyte
nvidia geforce 2 mx 100/200. The screen often blackens for a sec or two,
then reappears; often freezes, and also freezes without blackening.
Oftenmore, it remains frozen. The screen often become also smeared there and
there with bits of browser, which appear tiled with strange colors (blues, a
mix of red & green, stripes, checks). I've scanned the pc, but no virus
here. I've downloaded the latest nvidia drivs from the site, and the
detonators, but maybe there's something that has gone wrong, or maybe
there's something better to fix this.
What's the problem?

Dwe adjusted his tin foil beanie and asbestos underwear to write:

Has that card got a fan?

Sounds like it is either overheating in which case blow out the dust
bunnies or check that the fan is still spinning or the card is on the
way out.

Nope, there isn't any fan in the card (that is firm in the agp slot). Could
be this?

Could be a build up of crud on the contacts, pull the card out and clean
the gold contacts with a pencil eraser.

Might not be hardware related though it was just the first thing I
thought of as the temp here hit 80F outside and in here was nearly 85F
and I was watching the temps on my card and board creeping up and
thought it was about time to check for dust and stuff YMMV.

Ok, done: it was some dust, I guess. It seems it is enduring so far; let's
see. Ty.

You are welcome, with 3 dogs all shedding at the mo and a comp room that
faces west I am a bit over cautious with monitoring temps and dust
bunnies :)
