Hi, I don't absolutely need a scanner, but I have a good deal for an Acer 640BU (~40$, 65$CAN). I know it's an old one, maybe 1 year old, but specs look good. 600x1200dpi, 6 seconds for preview... Is it effectively a good deal? Is it good quality? Anybody tried it?
I know well HP's scanner of last year (3300, 4300, 5300...) How does it compare to them?

I got a 640U for $80CAD last year, brand new.
I think that price is a little high.
You can get a 3300U (I THINK that's the correct model number - anyway, it's the "Scan-to-web" one with similar specs as the 640U) for $70CAD, brand new.

I mean, the scanner is brand new too, it's just in liquidation. The 640BU stands for more bits of color than 640U and it has buttons on the scanner which is nice.
Are you satisfied with your 640U?

At the price I got it for, I can say that it does satisfy my expectations. I'm not a graphics professional, but just a casual user of it: scanning some pics for the web, documents, etc. I've seen more expensive scanners which I dislike - e.g. the Canons.
