HolySh!t...

Get this I was copying a cd for my friend because it was cracked only slightly but he wanted to get a copy before it broke. So I pop it in to my CDRW and it starts to read it, We go into the kitchen to get a drink and I start hearing this clickinbg sound as I leave the room. And then there was a HUGE CLANK and POP and My Burner sounded like it had turn into a Blender full of glass. As it goes, While the cd is spinning it catches on the side or something and explodes inside of my burner. So I hurry over and kill the power. I remove the drive and when I pull it out of the case it sounds like a phukking maraca. I take it off the top cover of the burner and pour the contents out on the floor. As far as I know my burner is ok. I took some pictures of the inside.


AHHH, What a day.

ya know now it kinda smells funny... My friend hasnt stopped apologizing yet.

I told him it wasnt his fault but..even right now... he's apologizing.

oh well, I might need to get another burner.

At least they are pretty cheap now, even for the new ones. A few years ago they used to be expensive as hell, and slow as hell too... As much as I feel sorry for your burner, I would have loved to have been there for that. It was probably pretty cool, what with the yelling and improper shutdown and the running and the blending of the CD (not necessarily in that order!).

Had the same thing happen on a new PC at work. Straight out of the box, loaded an XP disk in, turned my back and BANG! One XP disk into thousands of pieces. Trashed a brand new Samsung CD-ROM. Twisted the casing inside, the impact was that great. Sounded cool though.

That's walways cool when it happens. My old 52x blew up a cd, so my current one seems to have some sort of protection where it'll spin down if disc isn't strong.

It's not about good or bad, it's about which gets you rich and laid faster.

some one posted a link to some study some one did, even undamaged cds would break into hundereds of pieces past a certain speed. you should have used that nero cd speed app, it might have been fine if you tried to copy it at 8 x

After further inspection, The tabs that hold a disk in place around the actual slot have been RIPPED off by apparently shrapnel from the cd. I have been able to play cds, and copying music to the hard drive. When I try to burn My burner sometimes locks my computer, starts clicking, or either doesnt access at all. I think I have a great optorite 40X 24X 48X cd read/writer with absolutely NO writing capabilities at all. Yes, My ass is chaffed because of this. I called the company that sold me the Writer and they told me the warranty is void since I opened it to empty out the CD cocktail that I decided to make for the first time(PHukking bastards) So I am eventually gonna have to buy another one and during the meantime I have been spamming their company tech support email address just to make myself feel a little better.

That sucks, especially that you voided your wanteree. On the other hand, you can find these burners for next to nothing. If lucky, you could find a DVD+R for 200 bucks.

If you check out some of the coupon or deal websites you should find yourself a cheap burner easily. Bensbargains is a decent one. Otherwise I'm sure you could get one for dirt cheap at newegg. I'm on dialup so I don't have the patience to look ;)

I bought a new 2,4 ghz intel p4 to put in my system and when I put it in it locks up the computer. I cant win for losin the week all my sh!t iks breakin. First reloaded of all drives the cdrw gets phukked and then new processor just blowz ass..
