need recommandation on budget videocard that will run doom..

i have radeon 8500 and it runs choppy even at 640X480 low image
quality. i would like to upgrade the videocard to run it at 1024X768
med image quality. i have amd xp 2400, 512mb ddr, 8mb 160bg hd.....

Any sub-$100 card wouldn't be much better than what you have. Don't get
anything less than a GeForceFX 5700 (non-LE), about $125 online.

ATI 9600 Pro, or Geforce FX5700. If they cant be had for $100 or less
you're SOL...
