Creative speakers and card

Hi guys, I know I am off topic but...I bought a 5.1 550 creative sound
thingy a couple of years ago. When I migrated boxes and operating systems
from 98se to XP Pro I found that only three of my speakers work.

Worse yet, the old CD would not reinstall in XP Pro

And further worst yet ( bummer ) I wrote Creative, they replied wanting all
thenumber which I supplied. I then called and they said sure, the disk would
be on the way. It was, came Fed Ex in only a few days, but it does not work
either. The sound is horribly garbled and has all sorts of added noise.

Can anyone tell me what to do? The creative list has had a horrible time
dealing with Creative. I have not had problems, they just can't make it
work.

Thanks for any help---and don't go away, even if we have to chip in
occasionally.

Check the web site for the latest drivers.

Uninstall all sound drivers in safe mode, reboot in normal mode, then
install the software if XP does not find the drivers automatically.

If that means a new computer, did you disable the onboard sound before
installing your creative card?

Regards,
