Windows 7 Install Problems

I am re0installing Windows 7 on a laptop using the recovery disks. Everything is okay until it gets to SETUP IS UPDATING REGISTRY SETTINGS and it just freezes there.

you need to perform a clean install now, registry is corrupted and will not work.
clean install means formatting of the drive (blank) and then installing the OS.
also called fresh install.
