I bought an Aopen 6800GT at Dabs UK. The version with the 'free' Doom3 game.
Well, I was quite shocked by the optimal setting in the Nvidia 61.77 drivers
after installing the Coolbits registry fix. I expected say 400/1100 or such.
Instead, I gota whopping 600/1400!!! It offered this repeatedly and after
reboots etc and I even ran it as such for a few minutes. I decided it was
too much of a risk and so clocked back to 420/1100 for now. I think
capability score shown for the card is likely reasonably accurate since in
the same rig, a few months ago, I did have another copy of this card but it
would only go to 390/1090. Indeed that card felt sluggish to this one.

I guess the gpu yields have gotten better and maybe they are using faster
memory. If so, it augurs well for buyers. It occurs to me that Dabs, when I
last looked yesterday, still had some of these cards - likely same batch.
Maybe the batch is very good. If you're buying a 6800GT, it might be worth
looking at Aopen at Dabs. I am not a fan of Dabs but sometimes even they get
something right.

That's the highest setting allowed on these cards. When I was playing with
different bioses on my 6800gt, one of them set the optimum at 600/1400. It
ran in 2D, but not 3D. I can't imagine any 6800 series card running at 600
mhz on the core.

Toaster oven... make a great fried egg. Very expensive heating element
should it ever burn out.

Hi,

I nearly always got to Dabs for my stuff. Occasionally Overclockers.

Not had a problem with Dabs at all. Still waiting for the
MSI cards to come in stock.

What sort of probs have you had with Dabs in the past?

Regards,
Paul
