Farcry on fx5200-openGL vs dX!

I've been having great fun playing Farcry on my Athlon2200,512MB
geforce5200 system using the latest 61.77 drivers from the nvidia site
but I've noticed that I get a better performance (less fatal glitching!)
from using the openGL rendering as oppossed to the dX. With the latter,
I got shafts of grey that'd appear accross the screen (like lighting
effects?) which would get worsethe longer I played until after an half
hour or so when the glitching got so bad as to render the game
unplayable until I rebboted!
With the openGL, things were much better & the only glitching that
I noticed was that occaisionally a texture would be rendered in a bright
primary colour! This happened mainly with trees & boulders & although
it's irritating to get the odd flourescent red boulder or tree amongst
the otherwise stunning graphics, the glitch was less of a hinderance to
game play than the dX9 ones!
I was wondering whether anybody on this group could give me any
ideas as to why I should get these occaisional glitches with the openGL
rendering & are there any tweaks that I could try to see if I can't
eliminate them as otherwise, the fx5200 card seems to cope remarkably
well with what is a very graphics intensive game & as more new titiles
appear that push the capabilities of thes cards harder, I'd like to
learn about anything that I could do to help improve the performance of
my card until I can afford something more powerful!
Thanks for any ideas in advance!

I would suggest lowing your resolution down to the next level. If your is
set to like 800x600 @ 32 with high detail, try setting it down to lower and
see if it can cope better.
