Just wanted to know what is the difference between 5900 and 5900XT ???
Which is faster? Apart from these two is there any other model??

Is the 59xx series worth buying ?

Thanks.

They have the same core, but the 5900 has faster memory than the
5900XT (850MHz vs 700MHz). In practice, though, the XT has lower
memory latency so the difference between the two works out to be
minimal.

I recently bought a 5900XT, but only because I got a really good deal
on a used one ($100). I wouldn't pay the $170 or so that a new one
costs, since the Radeon 9800 Pro is a better performer for not much
more money.

Hopefully the GeForce 6600 series cards will be available in AGP
before too long; these should be far better performers for the money
than the 5xxx series.

fwiw: Many 5900 xt's will overclock to 850mhz. My LeadTek fx5900xt is
working just fine at 850.

FWIW: Don't count on being able to do this. My eVGA 5900XT doesn't
even come close (it maxes out at about 740MHz).

he's right. I got an MSI 5900xt because MSI seems to have a reputation for
overclocking and I could only get 461/770, a farcry from the 500+/850 some
people are getting. I've tried to flash with modded bioses that allow
overclocking but the card won't allow it.

Also when you overclock you end up running into texture ripping and
artifacts when you're playing games etc

My Gainward 5900 is at 475/975 and will probably go higher.

The XT version is slightly slower.

Not really - the Radeon 9800 Pro is quicker, and costs almost the same.
