Windows 7 doesn't recognize Officejet K60

I recently installed Windows 7 Ult. 64-bit on my new Asus G50vt-x5 laptop. I am unable to get my Officejet K60 to work with it, though every website I've gone to says that it should automatically show up when it's plugged in. The printer still works as a standalone copier, and it worked with my previous computer -- an Xp Pro system. Any suggestions?

Thing is, it doesn't show up there. I have tried different usb cables and replugging both ends.

Also, I got the printer secondhand and do not have the CD.

Excellent! The printer showed up after a while. Once it was there, I updated the driver. That worked fine.

I need some help. I have been using a HP K60 for a number of years. I recently got a new Thinkpad with Windows 7. I had to set up the computer with a new cable - one with the old fashion connection to the printer and the USB to my computer. My new computer did not have the large old fashion connection. I finally found on the HP website the driver for K60 which I downloaded. It shows now as a printer.
I still can not print. Each time I try to print is shows as an error.

What can I do.
