Iam SO CONFUSED, x800 pro or 6800GT ???

I know the 6800gt is more powerfull in opengl games and the x800 is
better in Directx games, which their are LOTS MORE, 95% of games are
Directx, but dont hold me to that number pulled it out of my arse, but
its somthing like that.

Anyway i wish to run ALL my games with AA and AF, AA 4 AF 8 atleast.
From what i read, the x800 pro does this the BEST AA and AF, and when
you turn on AA and AF on the 6800Gt the frame rates go down to nothing
or not as good FPS wise as the x800 pro.

If anyone can clear some of these points out it would bea GREAT, help
to me.

As i wish to purchase a new card within the next week.

Thanks.

Also i have a Mobile 2500 at 2.5ghz, would one of these cards work to
the fullest on my system ??, pc3200 ram, 400fsb.

Thanks again.

X800 pro is fastest with current games, but the current Ati GPU do
not implement Dx9.0c shaders. The reverse of the Ati vs nVidia
situation a year ago with regard to DX9.0b shaders. So any upcoming
games implementing a DX9.0c shader path would require software
emulation with the Ati card.

Also, the 6800GT is a 16-pipe implementation vs Ati's 12-pipe in
the X800 Pro. Many more driver optimizations are still to come on the
6800 family, since the architecture is new. The Ati X800 design is a
simplistic update of the 9800 design.

Just quickly:

Doom3: 6800GT wins handily
Half-Life2: Both cards are about even (even with AA/AF)

X800Pro is a stunted 12 pipeline version of X800XT
6800GT is a 16 pipeline lower clocked Ultra.

6800GT more pipelines, more future proof (9.0c). Seems a simple choice.

Although in reality you will see little difference unless you actually
benchmark them and see numbers on screen ... both atm are top notch cards.

I am jumping in as well as a new Nvidia user but my problem is which
brand is best for support, quality etc. Pony, MSI, etc etc??

Thanks for tips

I think its a really close call. Personally, I would *not* consider a
regular X800Pro, I would only get an X800Pro Vivo, so I could easily unlock
the other 4 pipes. A 16 pipe X800Pro beats a GF6800GT stock in most
benches.

On the other hand, who runs a GF6800GT at stock? I got lucky and mines good
for 453/1120, although I rarely run it higher then 440/1100 for fear of it
blowing up. Nearly all GT's will do 400 core or more.

A GF6800GT at say 400/1050 vs an X800 Pro with 16 pipes. Tough call.

BFG or eVGA would be my suggestion for support and quality.

Ive Got and would go a 6800GT again if given the choice- the X800 Pro
is a good card but over-rated, the 6800GT is your safest bet (i.e you
dont need to bios flash to get to Ultra Speeds) if i had the money and
no brain, i would go the X800 XT PE but then again, i think thats a
stoopid ammount to spend on a PC...If you want the best driver support
in the world, go Nvidia
