as i live in the UK SLI will be here a few months/weeks after everywhere
else. 1 board that is available with 2 x16 PCI-E is an Asus. and it aint
cheap. i have no idea when they'll be here but i bet they will be seriously
fast.

Asus board http://www.overclock.co.uk/custome [...] ctid=18022

gigabyte board
http://www.overclock.co.uk/custome [...] ctid=18026

uses nFORCE4 with athlon64's

just thought i'd let you guys know

I hope ASUS will sell the mobo in a bundle with two 6800U/GT's. I
haven't seen any of these in PCIe except for eVGA - and those are only
sold in the US. I see no point in getting one of the first SLI boards
and then use two 6600's on it.

Too bad each slot actually runs at 8x when SLI is used. Dual 16x PCI-e,that's
what I want to see!!

8x PCI-E is equal to AGP8x so ur still gaining in terms of performance but,
yeah dual x16 would be a thing to see

just still coming to terms with all the new features available here

specs say NV firewall on that asis board, whats this?

and also i assume S-ATA 3gbs is backward compatable with S-ATA 150

i'd say the NV firewall is a hardware based firewall built into the chipset.
i got S-ATA capability on my board (no RAID features) but its only 150. i
s'pose the 3gbs would be backward compatable as they use the same connection
(i think)

Actually, PCI Express x8 has about twice the bandwidth of AGP 8x. The "x"
numbers for PCI Express refer to the number of lanes enabled, not to a
performance level normalized to AGP.

Since there still isn't a board out there that saturates AGP 4x I don't
think that PCI Express x8 is going to be any kind of bottleneck. But it
does point out how the supposed performance benefits of PCI Express are
mostly smoke and mirrors.
