Friend of mine has a Gateway Flexatxstc Bro Essential 866. That is
what it says in the back. Push the power on button it goes from
green to amber. I have herd that the Gateways have had some power
supply problems. Sounds like that could be the problem??

Unpluged everything and just tried to power it up but nothing. Also
blew out the dust real good but nothing. Started unpluging one thing
at a time but no change at all.

Is there a way to check for sure if its the power supply or not??

Thanks...

Could be the power supply. Could also be the motberboard. Especially in the
timeframe when these systems were built, some cheap motherboard manufacturers
used even cheaper capacitors which fail often, rendering a motherboard dead dead

Yep, bulging and leaking capacitors are a very common failure for that
board. The power supplies are pretty bad too.
