Any tips on the Chiliad Challenge? It is tough not to fall off the
cliff let alone winning it......actually falling off is ok since it put
me right back up, but msot of the time I kept running into the side and
make my bike turn backward :( ..I managed to win the first one after
about a few tries but the next one is very difficult.

Now do I have to make my way back to the top even if I won a race? What
a pain!!!! Can't they put a chopper or a waypoint at the finish line?!?!

The second one isn't so bad, just make sure you know the course
reasonably well. There are a couple of fairly sharp left turns around
the cliff face about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way through the race and it's
easy to fall off there. Try to pick up some time on the AI around the
corners (you can cut the corner fairly sharply and you don't have to
get all that close to the checkpoint to trigger it), and make sure you
stay on the track. When you have a straightaway sprint as fast as
possible by tapping.

The thrid one is evil, much harder than the second. My only
recommendations here are to let the AI riders go through the boardwalk
first, because if you don't, they'll knock you off. Even if they are
20-30 seconds ahead of you after that you can still win because they
fall off the cliff a lot. Just stick to the road and sprint on the
straightaways. The first time I did it I never really passed the AI,
they had just fallen off the cliff, I guess, and I noticed my position
go from 2nd to 1st all of a sudden.

Good luck...and yes, it's extremely annoying when you fail the race and
have to climb up (especially since it's not available the whole day. It
should have been like the street races where you can easily reload the
race.

Y'know, I actually spent longer doing this challenges than I did on
Zero's missions. I've only ever managed to win the Cobra Run twice
without cheating!

What really helped me out with the first two is realising that CJ has
slightly less control over the bike when you're tapping X furiously to
sprint.

There's a good trick to ensuring victory the first time out in each of
the Chiliad races. Simply get to the bottom at a leisurely pace and let
everyone else cross the last checkpoint. Once they all finish, hop off
your bike and snipe 'em. When they're all dead, hop back on your bike
and cross the last checkpoint... you win.
It isn't as satisfying as actually running and winning the races, but I
never liked the bicycle concept anyway.

Yeah I heard that trick ....though I am toooo slow and made too many
mistakes along the way that my fellow racers have gone for a shower
when I arrive at the finish line :(

Yup, been doing that :o)

Honestly, I've got no idea who can win the Cobra Run. The controls are
really fiddly and make the Chiliad missions harder than they actually
are. I still like launching CJ over the edge when I'm frustrated and in
last place though :o)

What is this "cobra run" of which you speak? The only two I know of are
the one starting next to the lighthouse and the one next to the
wheelchair.

You're thinking of the triathlons. The Cobra Run is the third and final
mountain bike race accessed from the top of Mount Chiliad.

The Chiliad Challenges, all three have got special names, 'Birdsye
Winder Yellow Route' is one of the others.

I think you might mean the triathlons based on the beach in Los Santos
and the other one at Fisherman's Lagoon.

I didn't even know about those. I'll take a look some time (I'm busy
re-taking LS).
