Gateway solo 1200 wont boot

this problem has gotten worse and worse the past few months and now
wont boot past the first couple seconds. The screen never receives a
signal either (doesn't light up). Lights that generally come on our
(from right to left) the CD drive, hard drive and floppy. Normally
they all go off and the boot process continues. Now either the first
two will go off and the floppy will stay on and it will beep. OR all
three stay on and it will beep. In the past i have been able to hold
the power button down for 4 seconds to turn it off and reboot with no
problem. But that is in the past now and i can't get it to finish
booting. I have replaced the laptop with a newer one, but still
would like to get this one working. Until i've posted that is is
fixed....it not.
