I know this is a common question, but how do you fix OpenGL games to run at
speeds faster than 60Hz.

I have a 660GT and want to run at 85Hz in 1024*768.

I can get DirectX games to run faster by using the Override value in DxDiag.

More about : 60hz doom3 fix easily

If I'm remembering correctly, the Doom3 engine itself was limited to 60 FPS
maximum. I'm pretty sure when I was running it, my refresh was at 85Hz, but
was still only limited to 60 FPS, so the higher refresh rate didn't really
make much difference in terms of performance.

nVidia drivers do not have a refresh rate override option?

If all fails, download RefreshForce.

It's limited to 60 fps by default (cap removed for timedemos, obviously), to
limit network lag. However, 60 Hz refresh rate tend to flicker and cause eye
fatigue.

Remember, laser eye surgery costs more than 6800 SLI...

Doom3 engine can go much faster than 60fps :)

In timedemos yes, but by default it's limited to 60FPS, as posted by G.

In nVidia display properties, go to the "Refresh Rate Overrides"
panel, change whatever you want. Worked for me to get Doom3 at 85Hz.

I had the same problem with Tiger Woods 2004. Go to Start > Run. Type
"dxdiag". Go to the "Further help" (the rightmost item), click "Replace"
in the "Change DirectDraw refresh frequency" zone and enter "85" in the box.

This should make ALL your D3D apps run at 85Hz whatever the screen
resolution, so be careful.

Well I'm having to same problem I run doom3 with 60Hz because I can't
override the refresh rate in card settings because the 72.something
nVidia's driver for the 6600GT's and higher which is not even out on
www.nvidia.com yet doesn't have the options to override. So which other
way can you override the refreshrate?? I know a tool called MKII that
fixes nVidia refresh rates but it doesn't work with nVidia drivers over
24.something because they program says that the driver over
24.something has the option to override. True but no the lastest driver
for the 6600GT's and higher.

You can enable the refresh rate override tab in the registry, set the
NvCplDisableRefreshRatePage option to 0. See:

Download "Reforce" from the nVidia website. It'll manually override to
any refresh rate at any resolution you specify.
