I am looking to start installing some home networking stuff with my dad, who is an electrician. I want to do those boxes with the phone, cable, networking, audio, etc... I am looking for a decent place to purchase these at a good price. I can find discounted computer stuff everywhere, but I have had more problems finding these components at a "reasonable" price. Maybe the prices I have found are reasonable, maybe not. If you go to Cyberguys and search for 1205510, this will give you an example of what I am looking for and some of the prices. I am not sure if I want to order from Cyberguys though. They seem like a good company, but a lot of the products they sell are just cheap crap. There quality stuff seems expensive. Anyway, I am just looking for some suggestions from y'all. Thanks!!

Radio Shack + Home Depot.

The way I did my house was I bought a 6 way phone splitter from Radio Shack for like $10, and I have an 8-port router for ethernet. The wall boxes in the rooms have modular covers that can hold up to six ports, either phone, ethernet, or cable. They're really inexpensive for what they let you do. You can get everything at Radio Shack, but Home Depot has a better selection. Here are links to what I use on Radio Shack's website.

The wall covers

3 line phone module

Ethernet connection module

What you do it just manually hook up the wire to the connection modules, then plug the modules into the wall cover. They work and look great. The one in my living room has 2 cables (one cable TV which isn't hooked up yet because I have satellite and no TV in my room, one cable internet), 2 phone lines, and two ethernet (one for the computer, and one for cable modem). Works great.

I bought a 1000 foot roll of the Cat5e wire from Home Depot for like $35. Used it for the ethernet and phone line. I can't find the phone line junction box, but it's a pretty simple device that just has the main phone line from the street go into it, then you just attach the extra lines you want coming out of it. For the ethernet they all go through the attic into the router that's in the top area of my closet, as the attic gets too hot to keep it in there.

Is this the type of stuff you were looking for?

Pretty much... I was looking more for the cabinets for where all of the wires come together in the basement or such as the top of your closet. I have been to the Depot, and I am looking at those products. Thanks though for the wonderful information and the links!!!

They sell those cabinets at Depot too.

If you want to go real pro you'd probably want to use signal amplifiers for the phone and cable. Having 1 cable go unamplified to 5 or 6 different screens may cause problems. They sell those at Radio Shack and I think Depot.
