HP h1945 with Socket in-hand Scanner

For our new project, I am preparing to set up barcode scanner with such
combination. But before I spend money to purchase, I like to gather
some information about such combination. Does anyone use such device?
How does it work? After the program is installed, how does it scan the
barcode label? (By tapping on an icon on the screen or some other steps)
.. This is the first time I am involved with such device. We currently
use either Intermec or Symbol type scanner terminal, so please accept my
apology for such inexperience questions. Thanks for any suggestion also
