After buying an AOpen Aeolus 6600GT only to have to RMA it due to it
stuttering and locking up my system I have decided I want to try again.

Should I bother or go with an ATI card or should I possibly just wait
until they sort these problems out?

I see people having problems with say an XFX card and then another
person not having that problem with the same card. I'm assuming the
problem is intermittent on their part.

(did anyone find out what the problem was? the HSI bridge getting too hot?)

So anyway should I try again? If so which card should I go with? (the
6800 seems a lot more expensive and doesnt offer *that* much more)

Regards

I just got a reply to my e-mail to Club-3D and their 6600GT and they said to
return it. But I still want a new card, so which one do I buy?

difference on one that works in about 4 months time

I had to get an RMA for my first MSI 6600 gt agp. The second one seems to be
working pretty well. Half life still had lots of stutters. Doom 3 is running
on less than middle graphics. Things look better than the gf4 I had, but it
aint exactly the second coming.

I've got a Galaxy 6600GT 128MB 128bit. The copper heatsink on it does an
excellent job of keeping it cool. Playing NFSU2 and Simpsons Hit + Run
the hottest I've had it was 55'C after about 6 hours solid play (ambient
case temp was around 33'C by then, which wasn't bad in a warm room.

Good price on www.scan.co.uk in the UK, they're pretty efficient too in
my experience,

Good luck, whichever you choose.

Neil.

I also got the XFX 6600GT, and after replacing the stock fan with a Zalman
VF700-CU, it´s a wonderful card.

No lockups, just pure power....
