Hey

Just got my new system assembled:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ CPU
Asus K8V deluxe mobo
1 gig 400DDR RAM
ATI 9200 vid card (soon to be 9800 Pro)
Antec case/400 W
120G h/d

Anyway, now I am getting only 7-8 fps with medium high settings on the ground. Will upgrading to the 9800 Pro give me the performance I'm looking for, or are there other things I can do?

I'm not sure about that particular game and how it does but from your stats it looks like your only bottleneck is the videocard.

You can probably find some benchmarks for yourself. The 9800P is a nice card and will make a difference. To see how much though I have to refer you to the benchmarks.

I also think that your video card is the bottle neck. And I think that upgrading to a 9800P will make a big difference. For example I upgraded from a radeon 7200 to 9500P and only with this upgrade I got 3 times higher benchmark scores in 3D Mark.

In ancient times they had no statistics so they had to fall back on lies

yeah/ it's a mismatch between a very good CPU and a low-end video card. Upgrade to 9800 Pro and see frame rates fly.
