Wieless peer to peer network

Could anybody help me? My desktop and laptop do not see each other. Both - Win2K SP2. The desktop - a 3com PCI wireless card. The laptop - a Belkin USB wireless adapter. Ad_hoc, channel 3, SSID papa, encryption disable. What else should I set?

The desktop is 192.168.0.20
The laptop is 192.168.0.10.
Both 255.255.255.0

what does "don't see each other" mean? Can they ping each other?

"Two computers do not see each other" - I mean that I cannot see one of them from other one (using Ping or My Network Places, no strength signal and so on).

seems to me like "no strength signal" is your problem. Double check ALL settings, especially for a typo...
