For me, downloading music usually leads to me buying an album. Sometimes the little 30-sec clips on Amazon just aren't good enough, or long enough, or aren't present on some titles I'm interested in. So I download them. If I like multiple songs from te album, I'll probably buy it. If I don't like it, I'll delete it, or if I only like a couple I'll keep just those because I won't shell out $18 for 2 songs.

I think if artists did it right, they could make more money off of filesharing than they do by selling albums. Giving their music away for free builds a larger fan base which will lead to more merchande and concert ticket sales. Being that artists only get about $1 per CD, album sales isn't where they make the majority of their dough. I was watching an interview with a musician, forget her name, who said that once she posted all of her songs for free for download on her website, she saw a 300% increase in merchandise sales. That's where the money is at. Fvck the stupid RIAA.

Every now and then, a new song comes out that I really like, but then the rest of the songs on the CD are crap, now granted there were older groups that did the same thing but they didn't survive, the legendary groups seemed to live for the music, and making money for it was a wonderful bonus, because they were living their dreams and doing what they wanted to do, because it was all about the music, but sadly today it seems its all about the money, no quality and heart and soul poured out into the music, so it becomes stagnant and rotten, and never really satisfies that listeners satisfaction. The Eagles Desperado album is one of the older groups that probably was one of the best thought out and arranged albums they did, the entire album is good every single song and my point is today its not about that anymore, today its more like lets get one song out there and ride its popularity as long as we can. And it frustrating to the consumer, and causes file sharing to come into the picture because one song is just not worth the price of the entire CD.

I do personally hope the group Evanescence lasts. It's darker music but definitely has a modest group with a fantastic lead singer voice.

I don't find it love crap, thankfully.

Well there is the quite known Bring me to Life, which was the soundtrack for Daredevil, and there is the most recent Going Under. The clip is not bad, definitely dark.

OH btw though, I wanted to add a few things:

1) Missy Elliot is definitely a talented hip-hop singer. Many might deride her, but she has a lot of artistic talent and originality in her videos. Heck, IIRC Wingding's a good fan of hers! I love her new clips, Work It and Gossip Folks. I don't think anyone though should classify her as someone ruining the music though.

2) With all the old music fans there are here, I am quite surprised no one yet has even mentioned or expressed any kind of sadness towards the late respected Johnny Cash. To so many, he was almost a figure in history. It did strike me, oddly enough, and I barely know him. At the MTV awards 2003, he only won one out of the 6 nominations, sadly.


That aside, ya can't deny that Xtina, Britney and Madonna going at it mouth to mouth WAS somethin'!

Its kinda wierd being 50 actually, I sure don't feel like that age at all, it kinda stings a little when I look back at the fact that a lot of my friends are dead and gone, and I'm still here, I've always tried to stay open minded, and constantly learning so I wouldn't get close minded like my dad is.

I saw so many concerts in the Motor City & here in Lansing, at the Silver Dollar in that era, it wasn't funny.

Used to go to the East Town Theater, Masonic in the Motor almost weekly.

Later after they were bigger it was Cobo. Iron Butterfly, J Giles band, Jo Jo Gunn, Deep Purple, Jethrow Tull, Moody Blues, Led Zeppelin, Credence Clearwater, James Gang, Seager, Nugent, & the list goes on & on for me! I saw so many concerts back then, I can't think of them all right off. I saw some wild sh-t back then I'm here to tell you!!

I've still got ringing in my ears from it, that has never gone away!
